Kick 'in it at the Grand Canyon! I grew up in Arizona and it has been a joy to share the rugged beauty of the Arizona desert with my kiddos. While hiking down into the Canyon, it was disappointing to find pieces of trash left behind by other hikers. At the same time, I was reassured by the unimaginable immensity of the Grand Canyon, as if no amount of human inconsideration can diminish its grandeur. There is some vague comfort in knowing the Canyon has been here long before humans knew about it, and that it will continue to exist long after I depart this earth. Not that this means we shouldn't fight to protect it today! . . . I also should give a shout out to the Grand Canyon national park for encouraging people to use their own refillable water bottles! #unfadingbeauty #grandcanyon #litterless #goplayoutside #zerowastearizona #grandcanyonnationalpark
The plastic trash we made in January 2019. Link in bio to my blog analyzing our trash for the month. #zerowastechallenge #zerowastechattanooga #breakfreefromplastic #chattanooga
We've loved our TN aquarium membership--a great Christmas gift from my grandma! I noticed this sign about plastic and sea turtles today and their great suggestions for ways to refuse and reduce plastic. It even recommended bringing your own flatware to events! #tnaquarium #zerowastechattanooga #zerowastegifts #plasticfree #education #chattanooga #tennessee
Great day for a backyard picnic @chattanooga ! Meals don't always have to be traditional "meal" foods. Throw together some fruits, veggies, nuts, and maybe some peanut butter for increased calorie density (for the kids and my long-distance-running husband) and you are good to go! Eating outside makes any meal feel special at this time of year. #zerowastekids #goplayoutside #chattavegan #picnic #chattanooga #tennessee
